Imagination Library Train

Dolly Parton began her Imagination Library program in 1996 to provide books to all of the young children in her hometown in East Tennessee. Dolly wanted to foster a love of reading among her county’s preschool children and their families. The Imagination Library was so successful, that it is now an international program.

The Randolph County Partnership for Children is the local champion of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, available to all children in Randolph County under the age of five. Each child enrolled in the program is mailed an age-appropriate book per month until his/her fifth birthday, building their own home library.

In order to provide this program to all of Randolph County’s young children, we must have community support from local individuals, businesses and organizations. The cost to sponsor one child for one year is $30. To sponsor a child or make a donation, please send a check to the Randolph County Partnership for Children, 349 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC 27203. Or, donate online by clicking here

If you wish to enroll your child or grandchild in the Imagination Library, registration forms are available at the Randolph County Partnership for Children. Enrollment in the Imagination Library also makes a great Christmas or birthday gift for your child, grandchild, or even your child’s preschool classmates! Give a child you know the gift of reading for only $30 for one year. Gift sponsorship includes a complimentary Christmas or birthday card sent to the recipient to notify them of their gift.

If you would like to know more about the program or to arrange a presentation at your community organization or business, please contact Shannon McCrary at 629-2128 ext. 28.
